Jackson crawls

My brother called me last night with the exciting news - Jackson started to crawl last night. You can see for yourself here. Batten down the hatches, Emily and David! He'll be all over the place now!

Just the thought makes me itch

In a perfect world, this blog would contain beautiful photographs of our children, tips for removing those pesky laundry stains, and recipes for all of the lovely meals that I prepare on a daily basis. You would say, "I always knew she would be the next Martha Stewart."

Welcome to my world. AJ has head lice.

Let's just say that this has been a humbling experience. It started last week when she complained about the back of her neck being itchy. On closer inspection, she had about a dozen bites back there. What could this be? Her teacher, TA and school nurse checked it out and were stumped. Chicken pox? Her pediatrician checked it out - definitely not Chicken Pox. He went over her head with a magnified light and came up with nothing. Probably half a dozen people checked it out to no avail.

But AJ kept itching. And on her third visit to the school nurse, she found that little bugger. I never would have guessed how much work would go into this process. Two days and about $150 later, we have washed everything in sight. I made Cal get a haircut. Bailey, Sydney and I all used the special shampoo, just in case, even though they show no signs - can't be too careful, do you think?

Just to confirm that I must abandon any slim grasp I might have on my pride, the doorbell rang while I was working on AJ. Sydney answered it and then returned to the room to watch TV.

Me: Sydney, who was at the door?
Sydney: Ali.
Me: What did you say to her?
Sydney: I told her AJ can't play. She has lice.

Great.

The best-laid plans...

On any given Wednesday morning, you can find me at home hosting Bible Study with about 9 other women. We chat, watch a Beth Moore video, discuss our homework, and pray together.

This past Wednesday, however, it was not to be. Icy weather caused a two-hour delay for schools and got everything all screwed up for us moms (but, oh it was nice sleeping in!). I decided to go ahead and watch our video by myself because I'll be on a field trip next Wednesday and won't be able to watch it with the group.

When the doorbell rang, I couldn't be more surprised to see that large rectangular box that means flowers. Valentine's Day had come a day early! A dozen roses and a small (perfect!) box of chocolates were enclosed. And then it dawned on me. My clever husband had timed it perfectly to arrive smack in the middle of bible study. Too bad about that ice.

Super Bowl Bummer

It didn't occur to me to take our Super Bowl pictures BEFORE the Super Bowl. I guess that's because it never occurred to me that the Patriots could lose. Now, who wants to see a picture of a sad mom and two crying children? Not me.

I guess that makes the Peanut Butter Pie the highlight of the evening.

Hannah Montana Fever

The Hannah Montana 3D Concert Movie hit our town this weekend, and Mark, our social coordinator (like Julie McCoy on The Love Boat - remember her?), threw together a little group of 24 to catch the movie and then head out to dinner. The 3D glasses were very flattering, as you would expect. A good time was had by all.

Except for Cal.
